About pilates

This method was developed in the 20s of the last century. Its founder was Joseph H. Pilates, after whom it has a name. J Pilates was inspired by old cultures, especially by yoga. Caution, it is not yoga!!! But as all soft techniques it is exercising, during which there is a connection and practising of body and mind.

There are elements of classical physiotherapy exercising and eastern exercise systems (yoga, tai-chi, chi-kung). The method Pilates is adjusted to a west person. Therefore Pilates could be acceptable also for those, who do not sympathize with east disciplines and are happy with harmony thought as it is and do not feel any need to penetrate into its depth systematically.

The exercise takes place largely on a mat. A weight of one’s own body is used. Previous motoric experience is not needed. Pilates is suitable for men and women from all age groups, people with overweight, pregnant women, women after childbirth, sportsmen, dancers etc. It is very often used also as a physiotherapy method.

Easy tools are used by experienced people and to vary Pilates lessons.
